Mid and East Antrim Borough Council https://www.midandeastantrim.gov.uk?wanted to engage visitors to their heritage sites in a new way. To give people an ‘experience’ that was dynamic and unforgettable. The first location chosen was Carnlough – a stunning fishing village on the north coast with a remarkable industrial heritage.

Working with great researchers and writers, we used real human stories of the industrial heritage of the area to create a site specific performance which immersed visitors and tourists in the story of Lady Londonderry’s visit in 1842, the circumstances of the tenants of the landowners and a fatal explosion at the quarry. The audience joined in the laughter, the drama and ultimately the sadness of the moment.

Visitor numbers were exceeded across the two days of performance. Visitor feedback was incredibly positive. More of these performances will be created in 2019 for other sites in Mid and East Antrim including Glenarm, Whitehead and Carrickfergus Gasworks?http://www.flamegasworks.co.uk
